Post-Treatment Care Instructions

Neurotoxin Aftercare

  • Remain upright for at least 4 hours after treatment. Avoid lying down, resting your head, or wearing tight-fitting hats for the remainder of the day.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive sweating, and elevated heat exposure for 24 hours to help minimize bruising and reduce the chance of product migration, which may affect results. You may resume other normal daily activities immediately.
  • If needed, you may take Tylenol® (acetaminophen) as directed for any mild discomfort.
  • Mild to moderate redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection sites is normal following treatment. To help minimize bruising, you may apply Arnica gel, take Arnica tablets, and/or use a cold compress or ice pack intermittently to the treated areas.
  • Avoid massaging, rubbing, or applying firm pressure to treated areas for 72 hours unless otherwise directed by your provider.
  • Remember — results take time.
  • Initial effects are typically noticeable within 3–7 days, with full results developing over 2–3 weeks. Mild asymmetry may occur as the neurotoxin begins to take effect and often improves as the treatment settles over the following 2 weeks.

If you have any concerns or experience unexpected symptoms after treatment, please contact your provider.

Filler Aftercare

  • Avoid significant movement, rubbing, or massaging of the treated areas unless otherwise instructed by your provider.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours following treatment to help minimize swelling and bruising.
  • Avoid prolonged sun exposure, excessive heat, saunas, steam rooms, and hot tubs for 72 hours, as heat may increase swelling.
  • Limit excess alcohol consumption and high-sodium foods for the first few days, as both can contribute to additional swelling.
  • If needed, you may take Tylenol® (acetaminophen) as directed for any mild discomfort.
  • Apply ice or a cold compress intermittently during the first few days to help reduce swelling and improve comfort.
  • Avoid applying makeup for 24 hours after treatment.
  • Sleep on your back for the first 2–3 nights, especially after mid-face filler treatments, to minimize pressure on treated areas.
  • Consider elevating your head with a few pillows while sleeping for 2–3 nights to help reduce swelling.
  • Remember — patience is especially important with filler.
  • Your results will continue to settle and refine over the next 2 weeks, and final results are best appreciated once swelling has resolved.
  • Some swelling and bruising are expected after treatment and vary from person to person. Minor bruising often improves within 2–3 days, although more noticeable bruising may occasionally last 7–10 days.
  • You may also notice temporary lumps, bumps, or firmness in the treated areas during the first several days. This is a normal part of the healing process. Over the following weeks, the filler will soften and settle for a smooth, natural-looking result.

Please contact your provider if you experience unusual pain, significant discoloration, worsening swelling, or any concerns after treatment.
